Farmers’ Markets

I’ve been looking into Farmers’ Markets, following my Earth Day pledge, and have found a couple of great websites with more information that I thought I’d share with you.

Firstly, for Farmers’ Markets that are inspected by FARMA, you can visit www.farmersmarkets.net for a host of information on their certified markets throughout the UK.

Secondly, if you’re Kent-based like me, there is the Kent Farmers’ Market Association (www.kfma.org.uk) which has an excellent website. It has a clear facility to find your nearest market and a wealth of information about each Market as well.

There do indeed appear to be a full range of regional websites for locating different Farmers’ Markets, such as:

  1. Scottish Association of Farmers’ Markets (www.scottishfarmersmarkets.co.uk)
  2. Hampshire Farmers’ Markets (www.hampshirefarmersmarkets.co.uk)
  3. London Farmers’ Markets (www.lfm.org.uk)

These are just a small selection of the sites that were returned from a search in Google. So, there’s no excuse not to find a local market and start supporting it to reduce your food miles and improve your intake of healthy produce.

It’s also a great way to meet like-minded people, a perfect location for you to arrange to go on a date with a prospective new love, too!
