Green light for wind farm off Sussex coast

Commenting on the Government’s decision today (Wednesday 16 July 2014) to give the green light to the Rampion wind farm off the Sussex coast, Brenda Pollack, Friends of the Earth’s South East Campaigner said:

“This is fantastic news. The Rampion offshore wind farm will support hundreds of jobs, boost the economy and reduce our reliance on dirty fossil fuels.

“The UK’s huge wind potential could make a major contribution to our energy needs, and help Britain meet its climate change goals.

“Ministers must show real ambition for offshore wind, and a stable pathway to 2030 to get us there.”

We’re always keen to see new sources of renewable energy implemented across the UK (and elsewhere), so it’s great news to read about the Rampion wind farm getting the go-ahead. Whilst travelling to Lydd last week it was great to see the banks of solar panels and wind turbines in the area.
