West Malling Farmers’ Market

I finally did it! I managed to schedule my diary correctly and turned up to West Malling Farmers’ Market today. It was a lovely sunny day and there were plenty of people in attendance – it was rare to see a stall-holder not having a queue of people to serve.

The stalls included butchers, sausage makers, cheesemongers, fishmongers, bakers, wood carvers, apple juice and cider makers and an Ecover merchant selling re-fills. Plenty of choice to get a range of produce and other goods that hadn’t travelled far to reach the market.

It was delightful to be able to stroll around and pick and choose some amazing foodstuffs – we picked up some bread and cakes, bacon and sausages to compliment our vegetables from the allotment.

If you’re local then I’d thoroughly recommend visiting (www.westmallingfarmersmarket.co.uk) but if you’re from further afield it makes sense to visit your local market (www.farmersmarkets.net)

On the way back we stopped at a well-stocked kitchen goods shop in West Malling to pick up a huge stock pot to make some hearty soup from our veg – roll on winter!
